A sad day for the backyard

Unfortunately, the beautiful oak that we had in the center of our backyard died from oak wilt that has been going through the neighborhood so we had to take it down. Here are some pictures. I wish I had a good picture of it when it was healthy, but I can't find one.

There could be some benefits. The grass in the back will finally get some sun. It might even brighten up the house a little bit. Then again, our roof is now completely exposed. This summer we could have used some extra shade.

At least we still have this tree back there. This one is a Cedar Elm (I think).
I came across this guy while I was trimming off some branches that were scraping the roof. Someone at least tell me this is a non-poisonous snake. I'm pretty sure it's a rat snake, but I don't know much about snakes at all.

1 Month

Kieran is 1 month old as of yesterday and he's growing fast. At his doctor visit yesterday we found out he's already 10 lbs, 14 oz. Obviously he has become a very good eater.

Here he is in his sleep sack, which he seems to like. It keeps his legs somewhat contained while leaving his arms free as he demands.

After a bath in his duck towel. He does really well in the bath. I wouldn't say he loves it, but he doesn't complain too much.

3 Weeks Old!

It has been so hot lately that we haven't taken Kieran outside nearly as much as we would like. Here we got a little time out back by the pond.

Photos for Friday

Kieran's becoming more aware of what's going on around him all the time.
Kasey continues to keep close watch on him for us.
Kieran's new bed. It might be awhile before he's ready for it.

Picture time

We actually had a little time outside where it didn't seem so hot so we paraded Kieran around the front yard. And the grass actually looks good after the hurricane sent some showers our way.

Two weeks old!

Time is flying by. And most of that time is spent napping as seen here:
And here:

Ok, this shirt is a little big, but it was cute so we tried it on. We'll come back to it in a couple months.

Grandma and Grandpa Pittman, who are doing everything for us right now so we can concentrate on Kieran and getting some sleep:
