I can't believe our little boy has turned 1! The year has gone by so fast. I love that we have this blog to look back on the past year!

Kieran is walking around everywhere now. It didn't take long to get his confidence up. He's also liking swimming more and more. Less than a month now until his first birthday.

Scott and I (Krista) went to NY to Erica and Sals wedding. We also stopped in NJ and had a wonderful evening with the Cucciniellos. Unfortunately we were poor photographers for that evening. But much thanks for the wonderful food and hospitality! We also met up with some of the other cousins while in the city.

We visited Krista's friend Jennifer in Brooklyn. She has the cutest little girls!

Thanks to Michael for housing us in NYC for a couple of days and for Pat, Peter, and Beth for coming out for the evening. It was great to see everyone.

10 Months

We took Kieran for his nine month well visit on Friday. He is now 22 lbs 1 oz and 30 inches long. That makes him 95% in height and 75% in weight. Looks like he has officially outgrown his infant car seat. Time for a new one.

Also, Kieran's great grandmother Raber, a.k.a. "Kooma" has come to visit a few times in the last couple of months. Kieran always has a great time with her. Here is a pick from one of her last visits.

9 Months!

Kieran turned 9 months old today and to celebrate he finally figured out this crawling thing. He's been pulling himself around for awhile, but today he took off.

On Easter Sunday we took Kieran to his first baseball game with our friends Chris and Elspeth. It was a Cubs game of course. The minor league Iowa Cubs started their season against the Round Rock Express. He had a great time and even lasted the whole game. In his first game he got to see a grand slam and a Cubs victory and even had a little bit of a ballpark pretzel, not a bad way to start.

There really were people at this game besides us. This must have been taken at the very beginning.

Chris and I went to the big league club's opening day game in Houston earlier in the week. What a great trip! Lyle Lovett sang the national anthem, Soriano started the game with a home run on the second pitch of the season, Aramis Ramirez homered in his first at bat (pictured below in the luckiest shot I ever took), the Cubs got the win, and we sang Go, Cubs, Go on the way out.

Spring

It's been a while since we blogged. But we've still been taking pictures. Kieran has been a busy little dude this month. He is not very interested in crawling, but he's been pulling himself up and walking with assistance. If he is really determined and no one is around to be his walker, he'll pull his body across the floor with his arms, but no legs involved yet. This morning mom watched him on the monitor as is sat himself up in his crib. He was so proud of himself!

He's had lots of visitors and has attended many functions in the last month. Here are some pictures from some of these events.

Abigail's Birthday Party

Kieran attended his first birthday party. The guest of honor was Miss Abigail. She turned 1. Happy Birthday Abigail!

SXSW

Kieran attended his first SXSW music festival outside of the womb. Last year he attended in mom's belly. For those of you not familiar with SXSW, it's a HUGE music festival here in Austin where bands from all over the world come and play at just about every venue in town. It is lots of fun. This year we saw less than what we usually see, I'm sure you can guess why, but we were still able to go to some of the family friendly events. Scott got to go do some of the shows by himself too. It was still a great time as always.

Spring Break

Krista's father and family came down for spring break. They rented a house on the lake in Marble Falls. Krista's sister Rebecca got to tear up the water on her new jet ski. And everyone enjoyed some time with little K-man.

Hail!

We had a pretty sizable hail storm a couple of weeks ago. It did quite a number here in north Austin. Our house got some pretty serious damage, which means we get a new roof! Sure glad we were all safe!

Story Time

Kieran's favorite book is Tails, which was given to him by his dad's cousin Pat. He MUST have it read to him every night before bed. So as good parents, we must oblige.

Next month, mom needs to start taking using the camera, so we can see some pictures of dad!

A little music

In the last couple days Kieran has really taken to his xylophone. I took a long video of him jamming, here's a piece of it. (larger size video here) It cracked us up because it seems like he's trying to sing along with it. This morning he learned how to strum the guitar. No video of that yet, but I'm sure it's coming.

This kid is so much fun. It seems like he's just happy all the time.

We took Kieran to the park yesterday. He had a great time. He really enjoyed the swing. Mom took him down the slide with her but he didn't seem to enjoy that as much. I am sure that will change.

Another GREAT Weekend

Kieran had another plane ride this past weekend. This time it was to Chicago for his Great Grandfather's 90th birthday party. Kieran met about 20 members of his family, including Mickey (great grandma) and Jack (great grandpa). He and his great grandparents hit it off great. Once Kieran met Jack, he started talking (da da da da) away and didn't stop for the rest of the weekend. I guess he felt inspired.

Scott is one of 21 grandchildren. That's quite a number! Eleven of them were able to make it to the party along with one great grand kid (guess who). Kieran is one of only two great grandchildren. The other one is his cousin McKenzie who is only a week older. One more great grandchild is expected in May from Scott's cousin Andrew. We are excited!

But there is only one cutie for us!

We've been sick in this house for the last couple of weeks. Kieran started going to day care, so he's been bringing the germs home. So, we've gotten way behind on or posts.

Three weekends ago, we went to Colorado Springs to Krista's Dad's house. We had a great time! Krista's grandmother was in town too, so Kieran spent some quality time with great grandma.

It snowed, so Scott and Rebecca built a snowman. I (Krista) was really impress with my husband's skill in snowman building. Not bad for a Florida boy.

And grandpa had a great time showing Kieran his toys.

As for the K-man, he's doing great. He has one tooth! I think the second one is about to come in. He loves to stand now. That is about all he wants to do. He is so proud of himself. Who knows, maybe he will skip the crawling and go right to the walking.

He loves to play and just be plain silly most of the time. He is such a happy little boy!

Already 6 Months Old!

It's been an amazing 6 months. He's growing up so fast! He has his 6-month checkup on Friday so we'll get the new stats then. I'm curious about what he weighs now.

We're starting him in daycare on Monday. Naturally we're a bit nervous about that, but we really like the place we're using and it's time to give Grandma a break!

What a Very Merry Christmas!

This Christmas was filled with lots of family, laughter and good cheer. And it was extra special because it was Kieran's first Christmas. We are so happy that so many people were able to come and spend it with us!

Grandma and Grandpa Pittman also came to see him. We walked down to campus and took some photos.

Kieran got to spend some time with his other aunt and uncle, Ryan and Samantha.

Mom got to spend some time with her new niece, McKenzie. What a cutie (the kid is cute too).

Grandma Butler was in heaven with her two little grandchildren.

Even Uncle Kevin and his girlfriend, Alison, joined in the fun.

And the little ones whispered jokes to each other. What are they up to?!?!

Oh, and of course, presents! Kieran had a blast opening them up, with a little assistance from mom and dad. The little man received lots of gifts for his first Christmas. Thank you everyone for all of the toys!

And thank you, Aunt Samantha and Uncle Ryan, for Kieran's own special chair! Now he can really kick his heels up and relax.

4 Months

Kieran had his four month doctor's appointment last Friday. Everyone has been asking us, how much does he weigh, what are his percentages......So, now we have his stats. He is now 17 and 1/2 lbs and 26 and 1/2 inches long. That makes him 91% in weight and 95% in height. And his head is in the 90% too, so he's proportional. I can't believe there are still 5-10% of boys bigger than he is! We'll try harder for the next check-up! :)

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. The way we do it here is sit outside with a few friends with a beer in hand and hand out candy to the kiddos. I always make little treat bags with some candy, a sticker or two, and usually a toy. I would say we got a good amount of trick-or-treaters. They were all very cute. Kieran only sported his monkey outfit for about 20 minutes. It was just to hot to be in that furry suit.

Gandma and Grandpa Pittman came for a short visit. Kieran has grown a lot since Grandma had seen him last.

Kevin too came to visit his little nephew.

Go Horns!

Kieran got to watch the horns beat up on the Baylor Bears this last weekend with his friend Ellie. Ellie is two and a half months older then Kieran, and, yes, they are the same size. He's a big boy!

Happy Anniversary to us!

Scott and I celebrated out 6th anniversary this past weekend. And since Kieran was a big part of our 6th year, he got to go out to dinner with us. What a good looking family!

I'm a growing boy!

OK, I've already mentioned that we have a very large baby boy, but Kieran is developing fast in many other ways too. His new tricks are turning over from his back to his front, saying all the vowel sounds (we're working on the consonants), and he is finally starting to play with his toys. He is such a blessing in our lives and we have been enjoying every moment with him. Here are a couple more cute picks of our favorite little man.

We're getting excited for Halloween. We usually get lots of trick or treaters in our neighborhood and we're supposed to have great weather so we'll be hanging out in front of the house tomorrow night.

15 Weeks

Kieran is 15 weeks now. He is such a joy in our lives. We are loving every minute with our little man. He's been "talking" up a storm and giving us lots of great smiles. His smiles make mom's heart melt every time.

We've had to make some adjustments in our lives since I went back to work three weeks ago. However, Scott's mom has been watching Kieran during the day, which puts our minds at ease and has made the transition much easier. We know he enjoys going to grandma's house because when he sees her he gives her a great big smile. We are extremely grateful to Trish!

Another day in the jungle

Kieran had his two month checkup today. Our little man is not very little. He weighs 13 lbs 9 oz and is 24 inches long now! That puts him around the 90th percentile for both height and weight. NBA here he comes! He also received his first round of vaccinations today, which he was none too happy about. But at least he and mom can now spend some time out in public instead of hiding out in this house. That makes us both happy!

Kieran's hair is starting to get curly. It is really apparent right after a bath. Mom really wants him to have his father's curly locks. We'll see.

Long Weekend, Long Post

This weekend we had a great time with our family and friends!

Friday

Krista and her high school friends, Beth (from Dallas), Jennifer (from NY), and Jennifer (from Austin), got together with their kids. There were seven kids under the age of three in Jennifer's house. Boy, we had a great time. Here is most of the crew sitting down to eat dinner together.

Our godson, John, is very mobile these days.

Saturday

Game day. Kieran was all ready to root on his new favorite team. Look! He almost got his horns up! We'll work on that a little more. But it was all for not. He didn't even get to watch the game. Stupid pay-per-view!

A lot of changes have happened this week. Kieran has given mom one night of almost five straight hours of sleep! I can tell you how much mom appreciated that one!

He has been more active during his "tummy time". He is trying really hard to pick up his head and even crawl!

Poopy diapers are less frequent. I'll spare you the photo, but here is a photo of another change this week. Reusable diapers! He is finally big enough to wear them.

A sad day for the backyard

Unfortunately, the beautiful oak that we had in the center of our backyard died from oak wilt that has been going through the neighborhood so we had to take it down. Here are some pictures. I wish I had a good picture of it when it was healthy, but I can't find one.

There could be some benefits. The grass in the back will finally get some sun. It might even brighten up the house a little bit. Then again, our roof is now completely exposed. This summer we could have used some extra shade.

At least we still have this tree back there. This one is a Cedar Elm (I think).
I came across this guy while I was trimming off some branches that were scraping the roof. Someone at least tell me this is a non-poisonous snake. I'm pretty sure it's a rat snake, but I don't know much about snakes at all.

Kieran is 1 month old as of yesterday and he's growing fast. At his doctor visit yesterday we found out he's already 10 lbs, 14 oz. Obviously he has become a very good eater.

Kieran has been doing great the past few days. Eating a ton and sleeping longer at night. He is more awake now during the day, but it's still not really all that much.

Things are going well with the little guy. He seems to have properly aligned his days and nights now. He's feeding ok, but could probably do a little better. Overall things are great, thanks in no small part to Krista's mom Debbie. She has been running the house while we concentrate on Kieran.

It seemed like we were at the hospital forever but we are happily back at home now. We stayed a day extra because Kieran was a bit jaundice and they wanted to put this bililight on him (crazy photo below). It seemed to work, plus he started eating better which helps a lot.

We got back around 1 pm yesterday afternoon. Kieran's first outside experience with the 100 degree Texas heat. Didn't phase him a bit. He slept the entire way home (a whole 2 miles.)

The dogs are completely intrigued with the little guy. Kasey especially. She gets really stressed out whenever he starts crying. Mostly she's just curious, wanting to get a good look at him whenever she can.

We're getting close! We had another ultrasound this morning. Everything is looking good. This one was pretty quick. The kiddo is already 6 lbs 14 oz by their estimation.

We have the baby room ready to go. Here's what it looks like, plus a bonus belly shot.

34 weeks down! We've finished the childbirth classes and the baby's room is pretty well set at this point. Just waiting for the little guy to show up.

This is just a little test run for what I hope will be an active blog. We are just under 3 months until the projected due date (July 21st) for he who is known only as Baby Butler. So far everything is going great. I think we have entered the nesting phase. We have some things done like putting together the crib, and have a lot more to do.

Ryan and Samantha were in town this weekend. We had a great time hanging out with them. We definitely don't see each other enough.
